Week 1

Week 1:

This week started out learning about what information design is and with some activities. We were put into groups and given a task to do. It was really interesting to note that there was a bunch of information that we completely disregarded until we were given a scenario in which it was crucial to have that info. 

We also had a discussion on data visualisation and information design and set a task of selecting an over the counter medication and getting a couple of people to answer the medicine questionnaire. 

We were encouraged to think outside the box, so I opted for an MDMA testing kit which was available from cosmic. I thought this would be a really unique and interesting option and something that would test me, particularly as the packaging contained a bit of information overload.

From this User Testing, it was clear that there is a lot of work to be done on this packaging. We were asked to collect examples of infographics, data visualisation, data journalism and information design and to bring them to class next week.
